Premium Or Regular Gas Baton Rouge La

April 24th, 2023 by

With the price of gasoline increasing, a lot of people wonder if they really need premium gas or not. Let Price LeBlanc Lexus help you find out!

What is the difference between premium and regular gas?

Premium gas has an octane of 91 or greater (91 and 93 are the common versions). Regular gas has an octane of 87 at a minimum, and there is usually a “mid grade” gas at an 89 octane.

Benefits of using the correct type

If your car doesn’t recommend premium, most likely you’re wasting your money. There might be some small improvement in mpg, particularly if you’re in a warmer climate, but it’s better to use the kind the manufacturer suggests.

When should you use premium gas?

If your vehicle owner’s manual says so, or it’s printed on the inside of the fuel intake, use premium gasoline. Using regular gas in a premium vehicle won’t cause significant problems, but you will lose a lot of the performance in the engine you paid a lot of money for!
